Biography

Maurice R. Gagnon, MD has been a practicing OB/GYN in the Mid-Cities and surrounding areas for more than three decades, but he still feels a rush when delivering a baby. It’s that passion for making his patients’ pregnancies a positive and joyful experience that keeps him invigorated about the responsibilities that come with his job.

Dr. Gagnon was drawn to medicine because of his interest and skill in the sciences. He gravitated toward obstetrics and gynecology in part because he “grew up with three sisters and was always comfortable around women.” Dr. Gagnon adds, “OB/GYN was my first rotation in medical school and the doctor I worked under was loved by his obstetrical patients – I wanted to provide that same level of care for my patients.”

Dr. Gagnon has a passion for providing the least invasive procedure possible to provide the best outcome for his patients. Whether caring for patients in the office, in the delivery room or in the operating suite, Dr. Gagnon’s priority is excellent care for women. He prides himself on staying current on the latest developments in women’s health care.

As a result of his work in advanced sonography, Dr. Gagnon received certification by The Fetal Medicine Foundation in London to perform nuchal translucency sonograms in 2002. Dr. Gagnon’s knowledge of advanced sonography, including nuchal translucency, allows him to offer his obstetric patients the highest level of care.

Dr. Gagnon was one of the first gynecologic surgeons to perform complex laparoscopic surgeries at Baylor Grapevine Regional Medical Center. He has regularly performed Supracervical hysterectomies for more than a decade. Dr. Gagnon is also trained on the da Vinci robotic system, which allows him to conduct minimally invasive laparoscopic gynecological surgery. He also routinely performs traditional vaginal surgeries for removal of a prolapsed uterus or repair of a bothersome rectocele or cystocele.

For the convenience of patients who fall within the proper criteria, Dr. Gagnon has also been offering in-office endometrial ablations and Essure permanent sterilization for the past several years.

Dr. Gagnon’s practice also offers cosmetic services at Salon Cosmetique, rejuvenating women with Botox and fillers. “I see first-hand how good it is for a woman’s overall health when she feels and looks her best,” he explains.

Dr. Gagnon and his wife, Paulette, have been married for over 40 years. They have two children and two grandchildren. His mother resides at a retirement center in the area, where Dr. Gagnon says she is “the life of the party.” A physical fitness advocate, Dr. Gagnon enjoys weight training and spinning. He also likes to read in his free time.
